  • All kinds of domestic helpers, aged 18-60, are eligible for domestic helper insurance, provided they do not perform the role of a driver.

  • Using the mobile app, a claim can take somewhere between 5-7 days. While we will endeavor to meet this timeline, processing times may vary from claim to claim, so please bear with us.

  • By using the mobile app. Simply input your information, upload photos of supporting documents, and select the type of claim you need, and we will transfer the money to you within 5-7 days.

Domestic Helper Insurance

Home Insurance

  • Yes, our home insurance covers household contents against rainstorms, typhoons, and any other severe weather conditions that cause physical loss or damage. Please refer to our Home Insurance Policy for more details.

  • Home insurance and fire insurance are two completely separate things. Home insurance protects household contents inside the home, such as furniture, electrical appliances, fixtures and fittings, and personal belongings such as jewelry and laptop computers. On the other hand, fire insurance covers building structures such as walls, windows, ceilings, floors, and pipes.

  • It’s always a good idea to protect your home contents, even if you’re renting. Valuable items such as your laptop, game consoles, luxury bags, and watches will be covered in the event that something happens.

    Also, as a tenant, you may be liable for any damage done to your landlord's possessions - especially any fixtures and fittings, which can be relatively expensive.

  • Yes, our home insurance covers the furniture, electrical appliances, and the fixtures and fittings installed by you, the property developer, or the previous property owner in the rental unit.

  • To make a claim, all you need to do is fill in and submit the property application form, along with original copies of relevant supporting documents to our company.

Motor Insurance

  • With California, you can add up to 2 people to a single vehicle at no additional cost. If you wish to exceed that number, we will assess the additional drivers and will adjust the premium accordingly.

  • In the event of an accident, please remember to:

    1. Remain calm and check yourself for any injuries;

    2. Report to the police if the accident involves injury to any person (no later than 24 hours after the accident);

    3. Exchange details with the other party (e.g. name, contact number, and vehicle registration number);

    4. Move your vehicle to a safe place and take photos of the damaged area;

    5. Inform California Insurance with all relevant information to process the claim before the repair commences.

  • Simply contact us via email or mobile and we can make the relevant changes you require.

  • An NCD is a discount you will receive on your premium for not making a claim. For example, if you go for 1 year without making a claim, you can receive a 20% discount on your premium. If you don't make a claim within 2 years, the discount increases to 30%. Basically, the less you claim, the bigger the discount.

Travel Insurance

  • You can call our Worldwide Emergency Service on (852) 2258 2158 at any time for emergency evacuation assistance, hospital deposit guarantee, additional costs of accommodation, or any other emergency event during your travels. The hotline operates 24 hours a day.

  • The standard policy already covers short delays, however, if you need longer, you may have to apply for annual coverage. If your travel plans change, please contact us as soon as possible. You can email us at getcovered@california.com.hk.

  • Yes, provided you don't take part professionally.

    For example, activities such as scuba diving and trekking are covered, as long as the trekking altitude does not exceed 5,000 meters above sea level or the scuba diving depth does not exceed 30 meters below sea level.

  • To make a claim, please submit the completed travel claim application form, together with supporting documents, no later than 30 days after the policy’s expiration date. (If the policy covers the whole year, it must be submitted within 30 days of the accident.)
